I could talk about Ben for hours and hours. Ben is my very first dog, my very special one, my everything. I had always wished to have a big dog but then I settled on a small one. Ben has always been special, from the first day on. He was the biggest of four in the litter, yet the only one who couldn’t jump on the couch at the age of 3,5 months, the only one who was a little reserved and shy and when I went to pick up my puppy he was way more interested in me than playing with his crazy litter-mates. That’s when I realized he’s THE ONE. I felt like he had chosen me, his eyes were saying “pick me, pick me, I am so lovable!”  And he hasn’t changed a bit since then. He spends his entire days looking at me, at home, on our walks, while playing, running, everywhere, all the time. On our walks he is like a shadow, he likes to walk right under my feet and the average distance between my feet and Ben is like 1metre, unless I throw a ball, a stick or a cone for him, then he runs after it like crazy. Yes, anything is a toy for Ben, I mean it, anything… Grass, cones, sticks, balls, bottles, little stones, a phone, whatever… He’s crazy about tiny little stones, so little – about the size of a bread crumb, he would bring them to me all day long to play with him. It’s really funny.

I often joke Ben is a little human. He behaves nothing like a dog, he sleeps under the blanket, he listens to everything I say, even when he doesn’t understand a word, he always looks at me like every word I say is so very important. When he is hungry he spills the water to tell me to give him to eat, he opens the drawer when he wants to play, he never does anything wrong and when I scold Winnie for being a bad girl, he covers his muzzle with a paw or looks at me saying “I am so sorry, I promise she will never do it again”. He loves to play board games like Monopoly, and he must always be the one to throw the dice. When we eat, he sits on his own chair at the table and watches us eat, very calmly, might sometimes release a sound in protest, but never ever takes anything from the table (unlike our pyrsheps who just grab every opportunity to steal). Except for pancakes, he might steal those from your mouth, for some reason he thinks pancakes are to share.

His favourite activitiy are tricks. He knows a great deal of them, when it comes to tricks there isn’t anything he cannot do. He has the best balance I have ever seen, he can walk in a handstand for 30 steps or more, and he can do  tons of really difficult balance tricks. He keeps offering tricks all the time, you will rarely see him “being normal”, he is always showing off, even when you really don’t want him to. He steals everyone’s heart.

On agility everything is different. He was not  interested at all at the beginning, the hardest task was to motivate him. After he started enjoying it, he suddenly started knocking bars due to his early take off. He had always liked to run agility, but he didn’t really give it all. Lately he’s getting crazier and crazier, faster and faster, finally I get to see him running full speed on competitions. He gets all crazy at the startline and he is really fast, but has some really funny ideas on course, he is one of those that might just take the furthest tunnel like 15 metres away, when you have just sent him to the closest one. Anyway, I love running with him, he is just too funny. Sometimes it takes a really long time for him to “get the idea” that I often laugh he is my Joey Tribbiani, which conicides so well with his funny appearance and character.

He’s always around, when I can’t find him he’s usually right at my feet. I could just go on and on and never stop talking about him, and still couldn’t describe how special he is…
